Birth of Assistance

Forty years ago, in 1963 a gentleman called Pierre Desnos started the first assistance company with one telephone and ten persons. He was motivated after his friends suffered from a serious car accident while traveling in Spain – helpless, not knowing the local language. He realized how vulnerable travelers are away from home.

 

Today, Assistance has grown into an international service industry providing a diverse range of helpline services, and Europ Assistance, the company he started is one of the largest assistance companies in the world today covering over 100 million people worldwide.
